Just Be Yourself

be-yourself

In any groups nowadays, it’s not the most beautiful who gets the most respect in the long run. It’s not the person who always wear nice clothing and who is always prep from head to toe, who gets other people captivated. Yes! Maybe, in the beginning. During the first meetings, when these people take a first glance at each other, it’s usually the most physically attractive who gets most of the attention.

But, in the long run, the people who stand out are those who are honest and true to themselves. These are the people who are not afraid to make mistakes and who are not afraid to voice out their opinions about things and their preferences over matters. These are the people we can consider “bold” enough to take on things. These people consider what they think is best for a certain situation instead of always thinking what others might say. I truly am easily impressed with these type of people. They show their individuality without fear of being judged or being rejected. They don’t care if they are “right”, as long as they get to voice out their opinions and what they truly want.

Too many people nowadays, are hiding in their shells. Too focused on themselves and their faults. Too afraid to be honest for fear of being corrected, of being laughed at, of being rejected.
For a few years, since our family issues and us having to be controlled by relatives who fed us and allowed us to go to school started to dominate our lives, I lived this kind of life. Until, it came to a point, when I no longer know who I am.

Now, I have reclaimed my power over my self and over my life, and I’m not letting any person, do the same thing to me again or to any of my loved ones. Never again! I promise to be my own person and to always go after what I believe is right for me. I will no longer allow myself to be controlled by anybody. I am still working on being my authentic self day in and day out. Sometimes, the fear and shyness goes back, but I always push myself and remind myself that there is no greater tragedy in life, than living a life not of my own.

After all, the cliche goes “JUST BE YOURSELF.”

Almost every man wastes part of his life in attempts to display qualities which he does not possess, and to gain applause which he cannot keep.  ~Samuel Johnson, The Rambler, 1750

Our Weekend Getaway

I’m back to work. I and my hubby spent our weekend in a private resort together with my workmates. The resort was very affordable, perfect for our budget. We had our team building and it was the first team building I have ever been to since I joined the company. Before, I often excuse myself for not coming. There were other plenty of stuff to do. However, since I am more relaxed in my position now, and since my hubby agreed to come, I was able to join the QA team. We surely had fun. The place was just near perfect. There was a swimming pool and you can really see the view of the entire ocean. My hubby made sure he brought his Bluetooth headset with him so he was really able to enjoy the place and the music with him.

100 Day Challenge: Save As Much As I can and Cut off On Spendings

I failed on my first attempt on the 100 day challenge. I wasn’t able to follow through. Anyway, I will start all over. That is the beauty of life, you can start on some things all over again. So, today is the first day of my 100 day challenge. My goal is to save as much as I can and to use every day opportunities to save. It means to cut off on spendings and on buying unnecessary things. Over the past few weeks, I haven’t been able to stick to this. But, since i can no longer rewind those times and spendings, all I have to do is appreciate the things that we already have and take good care of them, and to avoid further unnecessary spendings by deliberately choosing not to spend on those things.

Today is my first recorded success. My heart urges me to buy goggles for our trip tomorrow. My heart urges me to go to the mall, spend on the fare and buy the goggles. But, thinking about this goal, I have to stop and think that I need to control myself. It’s not really a NEED. It’s only a preference. Well, it would be nice to swim around the ocean and pool with googles, but, I have more important things to spend on than on goggles. So, here I am deciding not to buy it and to just enjoy the trip by focusing on other nice things. I can do this.

A New Blog of Mine: Focuses on the Four Most Important Areas of Life

katy_manna

Building a website from scratch is not easy. It is quiet time consuming and it could be tiring enough. I just claimed another domain and I still have to arrange the nameservers and the theme so I could paste my start up writings in it. It will be a blog that will provide tips on the four important areas of life:  financial, health, spiritual growth and relationships. Yes, these are the four most important areas of life. If you think about it, our life concerns, the ones that really matters most to us, fall to either one of these categories. The reason why we work hard for a living to earn money to support our families, fall under financial. Our quest for a longer and healthier life falls under health. Physical esteem and beauty also falls under health. Though, one does not have to be vain when it comes to maintaining her beauty. We should not aim to be beautiful just to impress others and to show off but most importantly to build our self esteem and to take care of our bodies, the place where God resides. Our quest to become the best wife and mother to our husband and kids, fall under relationships. Yes! Our relationship with the people we love plays a vital role in our lives. We know how important it is, however, we rarely have enough time to nurture these relationships as we are too busy with making a living. Of course, we also have a life area called spiritual growth that has something to do with our relationship with God. Yes! These are the four most significant areas of our lives that we need to focus on. Any imbalance on these areas, will affect the other areas. I aim to learn more about these areas and share my discoveries and realizations to you through my new site. I am excited because I really love writing articles like this. These are the kinds of articles I mostly read very often. It’s not a boring website containing only maxoderm reviews or any other product review, but its a site that will help improve your life.

Family Life Plans

family_health_insurance_plans

We need to save up as much money as we could. We are planning to work abroad. And when I say “we”, I mean me and my hubby. We are planning to work as a crew in one ship, so we will still be together. As for now, we don’t have enough money yet to go ahead and pursue the plan. I think, it will take about a year for the plan to be realized. First and foremost, we need to a build a house in Bohol, where my mom and baby will stay. My sister already has money for it but I want to add additional money, so we also have our contribution. It will just be a simple house. We will just have it renovated for a better house when we come back. Next to the house, we need to save up for their budget that will be good for a year or half a year, while we are still earning money there. Life in the province is simple enough, so I think 40-50 thousand will be a good amount. We also need to save for the expenses of our application. That will not be much as we have learned of a way of not spending much when appling abroad. I have a deep sense of commitment to this goal and every day I think of it always and believe in my heart that it will come to pass. Once we have enough money, we will settle our family and live as a family. I won’t have to work and I will get to be a full time mother to my baby and hopefully to our future baby, if God allows. We will use our money for building businesses that will support us. And we will have more time to serve God and more resources to help those people we wanted to help. So this is my motivation to save, and whenever I get tempted to buy unnecessary things such as natural fat burners which will not be of any use to a slim person like me, I just think about this goal and I’m back on track again.

I Was Visited By The Sheriff

sheriff-custom

Every payu2blog blogger dreams of being visited time and time again by the Sheriff. Being visited by the Sheriff means you are special. It means you are given monetary rewards in the form of tasks, because of all your hard work and because you have done a good job. It is a payback for all the loyalty you have given the company. Yesterday, I was more than happy to receive additional tasks from them. I never expected to receive any tasks anymore, as I just finished one batch of tasks, and when I opened my account, I was more than thrilled to see the 6 additional assignments for my two blogs. I am more than grateful. This is such a blessing and I will be adding my earnings to my savings. My money will not be spent just for cosmetic products such as acne medicine. They will be used to fulfill my personal goals for my family. A better life for us in the coming years entails some sacrifices in the present.

Affirmations Are Powerful

woman-self-esteem

Affirmations are reinforcements of our beliefs. Without our knowledge or without us being conscious, we do make several affirmations in a day. By thinking negative thoughts such as we are never good enough or we can never measure up to others, we reinforce negativity in our lives. These affirmations or thoughts have greater influence in our lives than what we thought. For most people, thinking negatively has become a habit and it becomes really  hard to break specially during our weakest times, when we are not at our best to control our mind. The solution to thinking negatively is to reinforce positive beliefs deliberately in our system. By consciously feeding our thoughts with positive things, we are choosing to free ourselves from negativity. Affirmations can make a huge different in a person’s life. In fact, these affirmations can serve as natural treatments for depression . Yes, you heard me right. Why don’t you try it to yourself and see how it makes a difference in your life in general.

Heading Off To The Beach Again

We will be spending our day and night in a private rest house in Carcar, Cebu tomorrow. My hubby will be coming with us as well as the partners of my co QA’s. I’m so looking forward to it and I just could not wait any longer. I am not bringing any swim attire as I am not comfortable with those. But, surely I prepared for my simple outfit by scrolling through the mall. I bought a girly hat, though girly flowery hats. But’s its not uber flowery. It’s actually a white hat and then there’s a fabric with flowers on the side, so its’ not OA. I also bought shorts. I will be wearing a quiet longer shorts. Haha! what am I saying. and then, when we take a bath, I’ll wear a shorter shorts, maong. Haha! The resort has a big swimming pool and at the back is the beach. The beach! Ohhh…..how I love the beach…I really really do. Here’s the description of the place based on the thread about it. My coworkers are busy plunging on diets that work , while I don’t have anything to do with it cause I am already slim. haha!

Happy Where I Am

pic11

I couldn’t be more grateful that I am in this job. Before I was promoted, I was very exhausted every day and it was an emotional torture to go to work knowing you will be shouted at and harassed by some customers again. I am thankful that I don’t have to deal with customers anymore. I just have to do my job silently as I could in the office. The job could get pretty boring if I allow it to be. So, I do some things just to keep me sane and to help me do my work well. First, I make sure I do get enough sleep each night. Then, during the day in my job, I make sure I get breaks from time to time. Since, we can take our break any time we want and no matter how long as long as we produce results, I have so much luxury to adjust my break times according to my own preference. So, after every 2 hours of deep working, I usually take a 15 or 30 minutes break, to rest my eyes from the radiation of the computer and to rest my body and mind as well. It does wonders for me. And every time I encounter difficulties in my job which is very rare nowadays, I just think that there are a lot of people looking for jobs who couldn’t because they don’t have the right skills or opportunity. I thank God with all my heart for my current job.

Being Responsible Is A Choice

I only know few people who are really really responsible with their lives. Most people go through life just having fun, without thinking of their responsibilities and the things they ought to take care of. But, since I joined QA team, I became close to a friend who I consider is really a very responsible  woman. I think she is 26 or 27, and ever since she has always been a responsible person. A big part of her salary goes to her immediate family. She’s not married yet and by immediate family I mean her parents and siblings. They were not very lucky to have a good life but ever since she started working, she has been a great source of financial support for every one in the family even if her salary is really not that big though its big enough compared to other workers here, but still, it’s not like she’s working abroad or something. I would consider her a perfectionist, which is not quiet good and has its own disadvantage. But, you know, I admire her in some ways or another, because she really plans about everything. She is very familiar with almost everything in her life. She makes a budget and saves a part of her salary even if she barely has anything left for herself because she provides for her family. She does lots of small businesses to make a little more money. She has already taken cared of certain things such as auto insurance quotes, mutual funds, investments and the like. Whenever I have confusion on these matters, she’s usually the one I consult because I know she has knowledge in these things. If only more people in the Philippines are like her, we surely would have a better country.
